Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

The NHA CPT is the second-most-popular phlebotomy certification in the U.S. and is accepted by Quest Diagnostics, Labcorp, most major hospital networks, and 14 state-level licensure schemes. The exam contains 100 scored multiple-choice items plus 20 unscored pretest items administered over a 2-hour window at PSI Testing Centers or via live remote proctoring. Content domains cover patient preparation, venipuncture, capillary collection, special collections, specimen handling, safety, anatomy, and quality control. Eligibility requires either graduation from an NHA-approved program within the last five years OR one year of supervised phlebotomy experience with documentation of 30 successful venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks on live individuals.
